Former Redbirds named MLB All-Stars
The St. Louis Cardinals have five selections to the NL All-Star team this year, including two starters. They are: Rafael Furcal, Carlos Beltran, Yadier Molina (will be replaced by Matt Holliday), David Freese and Lance Lynn.
Former Memphis Redbirds that have gone on to become MLB All-Stars are: J.D. Drew (who took home MVP honors in the ’08 All-Star Game), Dan Haren (a three-time selection), Albert Pujols (a nine-time All-Star), current Cards’ Adam Wainwright (a one-time selection) and Yadier Molina (a three-time selection) and first-time selections in ’12, Chris Perez and current Cardinals’ players, David Freese and Lance Lynn.

Brandon Dickson named PCL All-Star
Memphis Redbirds starting pitcher Brandon Dickson has been named to the 2012 Pacific Coast League All-Star team.
Dickson is 4-8 with 48 strikeouts and his 3.58 ERA, a team-best, currently ranks him seventh in the league.
Dickson was also called up to St. Louis this year and made two appearances (5/19 versus the Dodgers and 5/24 against the Phillies) with the Cardinals and allowed one run (unearned) on three hits with a strikeout in 2.1 innings.

Heading into the Triple-A All-Star break, Memphis and Nashville have just completed a five-game series. As of right now, the Sounds lead the Redbirds in the I-40 Cup Series, 6-2. Here are some sights from homestand #7:

The Redbirds are coming off a short, three-game series against Albuquerque that saw the ‘Birds take the first game, but lost the last two games. Here are some sights from the series:

Redbirds + Sounds = I-40 Cup Series
This season marks the first of what will be many I-40 Cup Series between the Memphis Redbirds and the Nashville Sounds.
“Adding a piece of hardware really puts a spotlight on this interstate rivalry,” Memphis Redbirds General Manager Ben Weiss said. “The Cup is a great centerpiece to a long-lasting relationship with the Tennessee Education Lottery.”
The overall winner of the season-long series between the Redbirds and the Sounds will receive the two-foot-tall I-40 Cup, while the loser of the series will donate 25 tickets to the winner’s charity of choice.
“Both ballclubs are proud of the Tennessee Lottery’s long-standing support of Minor League Baseball in Tennessee,” Nashville Sounds Vice President/General Manager Brad Tammen said. “This trophy will add another exciting element to our cross-state rivalry.”
Nashville currently leads the all-time record between the two clubs at 123-101.

The Redbirds have completed their fifth homestand at AutoZone Park. The ‘Birds took on Nashville, as part of the I-40 Series, and hosted New Orleans for a five-game series, including a doubleheader.

The Redbirds went on the offensive, scoring 10 runs against New Orleans in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader.

Skip Schumaker made his second trip through Memphis this year on a rehab assignment. Joining him was Matt Carpenter. Here Skip is wearing the blue Redbirds jerseys in recognition of Father’s Day and cancer awareness.

That’s four homestands down for the Redbirds. Memphis hosted both Iowa and Round Rock and after being swept at AutoZone Park by the Cubs, the ‘Birds split the series with the Express.

The Redbirds welcomed both local and national military to AutoZone Park in appreciation of their dedication to this country and in recognition of Memorial Day.

The Redbirds have completed their third homestand of the season hosting both Reno and Colorado Springs. Though the ‘Birds went 1-7 there was a lot going on at AutoZone Park!

Current ‘Birds from last season’s World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals squad received their rings during a pregame ceremony.

The Redbirds and Baptist teamed up for three-straight sellout crowds at AutoZone Park for their 100 year anniversary.

The Redbirds paid tribute to former ‘Birds radio broadcaster, the late Charlie Lea, who passed away in 2011.

The Redbirds hosted the Girl Scouts to camp out on the field and enjoy movies on the 60×60 HD video board.

The ‘Birds just completed an exciting homestand which included a series split with first-place Omaha and a series win against Iowa, a series that saw one game end with a walk-off home run and another with a game-winning RBI single.

Redbirds fans are familiar with Allen Craig who paid Memphis a visit while on his rehab assignment with the ‘Birds.

Our annual “Bark in the Ballpark” event was extremely successful. Many fans brought their dogs and every dog that was up for adoption found a new home.

The first home stand is in the books and the ‘Birds came away with a series split with the Oklahoma City RedHawks and a win against the New Orleans Zephyrs (the fourth game was postponed due to rain).

Outfielder Adron Chambers enjoys some Pop Rocks before the game for our "Welcome Pop!" Night to welcome in first-year manager Ron "Pop" Warner.

Long-time Redbirds play-by-play announcer Steve Selby helps with the unveiling of our tribute to former play-calling partner Charlie Lea, who passed away in 2011.

The media and the fans caught their first glimpse of the newest addition to the best ballpark in the Minor Leagues, the 60x60 HD video board!
