For all of the marbles…

Hey everyone!  Dave here.  In case you haven’t been following, today (Monday) is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge day in Redbirds nation.  They defeated Iowa 8-7 in 15 innings on Sunday thanks to an Allen Craig single to drive in Tyler Greene to win it.  What does this mean you may ask?  It means that the final regular season game will determine who wins the American North Division and make the playoffs…and who goes home.

Iowa has Jay Jackson on the hill while we have our Opening Day starter from way back in April, Evan MacLane, going for the ‘Birds.

I already know my Labor Day plans:  At 1PM Central I will kick back, fire up the grill and tune into WIVG 87.7 FM and listen to Steve Selby call the decisive game that will determine both team’s seasons.  Exciting isn’t it?
I will post playoff ticket information on here if we make it there.  However, you can go to our home page on for all of that info (and I encourage you to do so), but I’m a superstitious baseball guy so I don’t want any sort of playoff jinx on this blog.

Happy Labor Day and go Redbirds!
